They say, “Stars are just like us,” but you know what? We’re not sure that’s true. From swallowing placenta pills to mixing eggs and peanut butter, A-listers are even more different than we thought.
1. Eating in the Shower
Jessica Biel would like to start a movement—it’s a little weird, but it’s a movement nonetheless. A couple of months ago the actress advocated for eating in the shower, claiming it’s best for multi-taskers; she also said a ledge worked best so you can rest your coffee or yogurt cup.
2. Shot of Vinegar
Years ago, dieticians slammed Megan Fox for her apple cider vinegar diet, an odd choice that’s as unpleasant to taste as it is unhealthy to detox with. At the time, she claimed that it helped flush out your system, but health professionals were quick to shut down the idea.
3. Same Meal Every Day
David Beckham revealed on a podcast that his wife, Victoria Beckham, has eaten the same thing for about 25 years. He stated that she rarely deviates from steamed veggies and grilled fish, which wasn’t great for him since he absolutely loved food. Hooray for consistency, we suppose?
4. Eating Clay
At the peak of her popularity, Shailene Woodley admitted that she used to munch on clay—and was adamant about her seriousness. She actually revealed that the culture behind it is quite fascinating, with clay eating tracing back to Indigenous cultures.
5. Cheetos and PB&J
You’ve heard of peanut butter and jam sandwiches…heck, you’ve heard of peanut butter sandwiches. But what if we told you Channing Tatum found a way to revolutionize the classic? Apparently, the famous actor stuffs Cheetos in with his PB&J for added crunch, so try if you dare.
6. Placenta Pills
Despite evidence that it has no nutritional value, some celebrities swore by placenta pills for a while. Notable figures like Hilary Duff, Nikki Reed, and Kourtney Kardashian all consumed it in one way or another (like in smoothies or pill form), claiming it helped with energy levels or they did it to prevent postpartum depression.
7. Licking, Not Eating Chips
Not only did Chrissy Teigen also eat her placenta, but she also revealed several years ago that she’d lick the flavor off of chips and toss them back in the bag. Her reasoning? You score a mouthful of flavor without any of the carbs.
8. Oil Pulling
Oil pulling is one of those crazy fads we’re glad got left in the dust, but celebrities endorsed the move a few years ago, including ones like Gwyneth Paltrow. The actress said she’d swish coconut oil in her mouth for about 10 minutes while she went about her morning routine—though we don’t recommend doing this.
9. “Dignified” Mating
Nicolas Cage is a notorious, lovable weirdo, and now we can tack another strange tally on his chart. Years ago, the actor specified that he stuck with a fish or fowl diet because those animals mate in a more “dignified” way. Whatever floats your boat.
10. Ice Cubes in Cereal
An ice cube to cool down coffee? No problem. An ice cube just plopped in a bowl of cereal? Now we’re less sure. Gene Simmons isn’t, though, and the musician shocked his Twitter followers a few years ago when he revealed that he not only uses ice but also mixes cereals, too.
11. Peanut Butter and Eggs
Peanut butter and eggs are both good breakfast choices, but not as a pair. Scott Foley, however, uploaded an Instagram video where he asked his kids if they wanted a touch of PB with their eggs. It may be blasphemous to some, but hey, he likes it.
12. Eating Corn Wrong
The year is 2016. Everyone’s minding their business when suddenly a photo of Michael Buble emerges. The internet exploded upon the realization that the famed crooner eats his corn on the cob…vertically. We’re still not over it, despite his light-hearted online defence.
13. Cheetos in Mac and Cheese
If Cheetos in PB&J sounds too outlandish, perhaps Flo Rida can convince you to stick ‘em in mac and cheese? The idea might sound nuts (and it is), but plenty of online recipes merge the two, so maybe they’re onto something.
14. Snacking on Raw Onions
We don’t know where you stand on onions, but North West must love them. In an episode of The Kardashians, Kim K’s daughter was seen ripping into one like an everyday apple, instantly dividing the internet. You do you, just keep a toothbrush close.
15. Sleep-Eating
Fans of either Taylor Swift or Ellen Degeneres may remember their interview were T-Swift admitted to “sleep-eating.” Essentially, she makes night trips to the fridge, snacks on whatever’s around, and then heads back to bed. She described the behavior as being like a raccoon in a dumpster, but those were her words, not ours.
16. Steak with Ketchup
Former president Donald Trump made headlines years ago when he ordered a well-done steak, which is bad enough, with ketchup. We’ve heard of some bad food combinations, but this one is really up there.
17. Dry Cereal
We’re not done with the Kardashians yet. For years, Kylie Jenner poured herself a nice bowl of cereal and…that was it. No milk, not even orange juice (though we don’t condone that)! Apparently, she liked dry cereal better and had preferred it since childhood.
18. Chili Spaghetti Pizza
Jennifer Lawrence is well-known for her quirky love of food, but this sounds like way too much of a good thing. The actress said she essentially stuffs Southern chili and noodles in between two slices of pizza—the concoction has been remade online, but we don’t have the heart.
19. Sauce on the Go
Ed Sheeran fans are well aware of his ketchup addiction, but they may not be aware of his latest travel buddy. The singer admitted in a 2023 Kraft Heinz press release that since he’s on the road all the time, he can’t do without a bottle of hot sauce on him! He added that his love for spicy food drove the fascination.
20. Eating Bugs
Eating bugs isn’t exactly unheard of, but it’s always stranger to hear that A-listers indulge, too. Nicole Kidman and Angelina Jolie are just two notorious examples of those who swear by bugs, both of whom have been filmed eating them. We’ll pass.
