20 Movie Foods That We're Dying To Try

20 Movie Foods That We're Dying To Try

Good Movies, Greater Meals

Movie magic is a beautiful thing that allows us to visit another place, time, or world for a couple of hours, but at its most mundane, it makes the simple things look extraordinary. Movie food is rarely something that can be recreated, leaving us wishing we could only step into the world and enjoy it with the characters. Would you eat everything on this list?

1. Ratatouille

It’s a pretty easy recipe when you get down to brass tax, but the animated movie Ratatouille makes this vegetable dish look positively heavenly. This feeling is only amplified by the food critic’s flashback to his younger days, so you get the sense that this was a particularly good dish.

2. Krabby Patty

Wendy’s did sell the iconic SpongeBob burger for a time, but we will truly never get to know what a Krabby Patty tastes like. We’ll also never get to make it ourselves, as the Krabby Patty secret formula has never been revealed.

3. Scooby Snacks

These delicious dog treats are enjoyed by humans and canines alike, and while Scooby and Shaggy eat just about anything, we’ve often seen other members of the gang eat them once or twice. There have been Scooby Snacks made out of graham crackers, but we’ll never know if that’s lore-accurate.

4. Tiana’s Beignets

Yes, we can make these, but the animated movie magic of Princess and the Frog makes them look so much more appetizing. Tiana achieves her dream of becoming a famous New Orleans chef, so it makes sense that we’re dreaming of trying her own recipe.

5. TMNT Pizza

The ooey-gooey pizza of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles finds us only in our dreams, and is not something that’s easily replicated in the real world. We’re not sure how the boys stayed so active when their main food group is pizza, but that’s not really the point.

6. Ice Cream

The giant ice cream sundae in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure is truly something you only see in movies. The large bowl contains several different ice cream flavors, topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, and maraschino cherries. We’d definitely earn the nickname Ziggy Piggy if we came across something like that.

7. Fizzy Lifting Drinks

The fizzy lifting drinks are one of many sugary wonders in both Willy Wonka and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Allegedly made up of sugar and gas, these beverages lift the drinker gently into the sky, and the only way to come down is to burp out the accumulated gas.

8. Lembas Bread

This special elven-made bread is a primary meal in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It’s said that a single bite of this thin bread is enough to sustain one for a whole day, and it’s said to be quite tasty. We might not be able to sustain ourselves with one bite alone, but you could probably make a decent lembas bread with the right recipe.

9. Feast For The Souls

Studio Ghibli movies are well-known for making their animated meals look incredibly appealing, even if the result of eating said meals means turning into pigs. The transformative scene of Spirited Away is chilling, but we have to understand where the parents were coming from.

10. Kronk’s Spinach Puffs

The lovable side character from The Emperor’s New Groove has a passion for nature, wildlife, and cooking. He is constantly worried about his spinach puffs, leaving them in the oven for just a little bit too long. But when it gets it right, boy, do they look appetizing!

11. Grilled Cheese

The grilled cheese from the 2014 comedy Chef is as close to perfect as you can get. Jon Favreau’s character meticulously butters the bread, stacks the right amount of cheese, and grills the whole thing to perfection. If you have the skill of making the perfect grilled cheese, consider yourself lucky.

12. Neverfood

Neverfood is the imaginary feast eaten by the lost boys in the 1991 movie, Hook. While the movie characters also aren’t technically eating anything, the table they conjure up looks incredible. If we could imagine things into existence, we would think of the same thing.

13. Food Storm

The FLDSMDFR ends up being one of the primary antagonists of Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, but its humble beginnings create some pretty memorable scenes at the beginning of the film. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to freshly fallen ice cream?

14. French Pastries

Sofia Coppola’s 2006 film Marie Antoinette is a masterclass of opulence and luxury, and the food is no exception. Tables of jewel-toned macarons, croissants, éclairs, and petits fours appear throughout the film, increasing the feeling of lavish indulgence. She might’ve been decapitated for it, but we can understand the desire for these gorgeous desserts.

15. Chocolate Cake

The chocolate cake scene in Matilda is difficult to get through, as we actively watch Miss Trunchbull abuse one of the bigger students in the school. However, the chocolate cake she places in front of Bruce looks absolutely decadent. We also couldn’t eat it all without some extra help, but we’d definitely go for seconds.

16. Turkish Delight

This troublesome candy in the Chronicles of Narnia is so good that it causes Edmund Pevensie to betray his siblings. Not his fault, of course - as the candy was clearly enchanted by the White Witch. The treat used in the movie is actually called Lokum, which is a Middle Eastern dessert made up of starch and sugar, and flavored with rosewater or lemon.

17. Cheeseburger

We wouldn’t necessarily want to experience the “dinner and a show” that occurs within the movie The Menu, but the cheeseburger Ralph Fiennes’s character makes is undeniably one of the most appetizing we’ve ever seen on screen. His character says, “I’ll make you feel as if you’re eating the first cheeseburger you ever ate,” and we have no choice but to believe him.

18. Butterbeer

This amber-colored drink shows up several times throughout the Harry Potter series, often at the Three Broomsticks. You can enjoy a lore-accurate Butterbeer if you go to Universal Studios, but it doesn’t feel the same in the Florida heat.

19. Ram-Don

This popular noodle dish is featured in the 2019 horror film Parasite, and is a symbol of the class difference between the two families. Both dishes look scrumptious, but the Park’s addition of the sirloin stake definitely elevates the instant noodle staple.

20. Hot Chocolate

Any movie hot chocolate looks delicious, but the four-tiered delicacy of Ned’s hot cocoa in The Simpsons Movie is something else entirely. Complete with a healthy dollop of whipped cream, chocolate shavings, a graham cracker, and a toasted marshmallow, all we can think of is how good that would taste in the cold winter months.
