The 20 Craziest Fast Food Items From Around The World

The Wonderfully Wacky World of Fast Food

Our favorite chains lie scattered all over the world, and that opens the door to some wild takes on traditional fast food menu items. Some make us rejoice, others make us recoil, but one thing they all do is pique our interest. From snake meat pizzas to matcha McFlurries, it's time we sank our teeth into the craziest fast food dishes from around the world.

1. Thailand’s Hershey’s Chocolate Burger

We love a good hamburger. We love a good chocolate bar. What we don’t love is mixing them, but this outlandish idea didn’t deter Burger King in Thailand. It’s essentially your everyday Whopper with an added condiment: chocolate sauce.

2. Singapore’s Kentaco

No, this doesn’t have anything to do with Ken and Barbie. It does, however, star mac and cheese and its costar, a fried chicken shell. It can be found at KFC locations in Singapore and it’s meant to be something of a taco. If you ever find yourself in that neck of the woods, it could be an interesting take on both worlds!

3. Japan’s Ice Cream Fondue Pizza

This is found in a Japanese chain called Aoki’s Pizza and it’s only around for the summer (which is probably for the best). It’s a limited-item dish with a unique crust center that specifically holds ice cream, and customers are encouraged to dip their slices. Hey, we can't knock it 'til we try it.

4. Poland’s Radish McMuffin

Well, that's one way to work more veggies into your diet. Usually, we like our McMuffins with sausage and egg, but that’s not how Poland does it. Over there, McDonald’s stuffs its breakfast sandwiches with cottage cheese, arugula, and radish slices.

5. Hong Kong’s Twisty Pasta

Breakfast lovers can unite in either excitement (or confusion) at this McDonald’s menu item in Hong Kong. Served atop twisty pasta and corn, an egg patty and sausage round are also thrown in for a breakfast bowl we weren’t expecting. Say what you will about it, but it's a popular item!

6. The Philippines’ Spaghetti

We all breathed a sigh of relief when McDonald’s abolished its spaghetti, but KFC in the Philippines hasn’t caught on yet. It’s a simple spaghetti dish without embellishments, but not exactly the finger-lickin’ choice we’d go for. Whether you'd trust spaghetti from a fast food joint is entirely up to you!

7. China’s Taro Pie

Americans will probably never see taro pies at their local McDonald’s—that’s because taro is native to the other side of the planet. Because of that, don’t be too surprised to find taro pie filling in China, a flavor said to be light and slightly sweet.

8. India’s Chicken Tikka Pizza

Domino's in India tried to bring the best of both worlds together by combining chicken tikka and pizza, and it’s said to be a big hit. The pie’s topped with chicken pieces, onion, paprika, and a mint mayo sauce, which is a good choice for those who can’t decide between the dishes.

9. Thailand’s Real Cheese Burger

Someone take Burger King away from Thailand before another far too literal menu item emerges! We hope you don’t like burgers and love cheese because this twist on a BK classic is 20 slices of cheese slapped between two buns. Yes, we’re serious.

10. Hong Kong’s Snake Meat Pizza

There’s nothing that makes this information easier to digest, so we're just going to tell you: Pizza Huts in Hong Kong sell pies with snake meat on them. It may sound a little strange, but it's hardly strange in certain locations! While it’s a limited-time item, that time can’t come soon enough.

11. Australia’s Cheese Toasties

There’s nothing wrong with a good old-fashioned grilled cheese, but it’s also something you can easily make at home. Australia, however, brings them to you with a line of “cheese toasties” at McDonald's that range from just cheese to ham or tomato inclusions. It's a pretty good option when you're too busy to whip one up on your own!

12. Taiwan’s Seafood Pizza

We're used to razzing people who love pineapple, but what about those who prefer seafood on their pies? Believe it or not, Pizza Hut in Taiwan has an option loaded with seafood toppings, including shrimp, squid, and clam among other underwater delicacies.

13. Vietnam’s Matcha McFlurry

Love it or hate it, matcha is just about everywhere. The one place it isn’t, though, is in American McDonald’s locations. But if you’re ever in Vietnam, you’ll have a chance to grab this little number—and it’s mixed with Oreo pieces, too.

14. Indonesia’s Cheese Donut

Have you ever had a donut topped with shredded cheese instead of chocolate glaze? No? Well, should you ever find yourself in Indonesia, pick up this classic dessert at one of their KFC locations. It brings sweet and savory together, and you might just be surprised at how well the combo works.

15. China’s Bu Su Zhi Ba Double Layer Beef Burger

You’ve heard of double, triple, or even quadruple patties in a burger. It’s not like adding bacon to a sandwich is anything new either. But adding two German sausages atop two beef patties is a whole new kind of meat lover’s dream, and it’s available in McDonald’s in China!

16. Thailand’s McD Porridge

If you’re ever in the market for McDonald’s chicken plopped in with traditional porridge, look no further than Thailand. (Though, maybe you shouldn’t look at all.) The slightly odd concoction goes over well in other parts in the world, but only daring Westerners would try it for themselves.

17. India’s Burger Pizzas

Fast food restaurants are the place to be for unhealthy menu items, but Domino's in India didn’t have to invent “burger pizzas.” Not really a burger and not really a pizza, customers can try to indulge in pizza toppings stuffed between two buns. It's like something you'd find in an amusement park.

18. Italy’s Parmigiano Reggiano Burger

Leave it to Italy to get fancy with their Burger King! One of their bestselling items is the Parmigiano Reggiano burger, a hamburger loaded with a gourmet beef patty, aged parm petals, arugula, and onions between a brioche bun. We can't lie, we wish they had that here.

19. Germany’s McCrispy Coleslaw

A good McChicken can make mouths water, but Germany adds something extra to theirs: a creamy helping of coleslaw. Don’t worry, you still get all the other good stuff like bacon and pickles, too, so it might not be the worst idea in the world.

20. The Philippines’ Chizza

Chicken on pizza isn’t news, but the way KFC handles it in the Philippines sure is. Their so-called Chizza is two fried chicken filets topped with marinara sauce, cheese, and pepperoni—not the pizza we had in mind, but not one we'd ignore, either!
