10 Terrible Oreo Flavors That Should Be Banned & 10 Best Of All Time

Everyone’s Favorite Cookie

Most people love Oreo, they’re a classic recipe that is nostalgic for many. You might be familiar with the usual black and white Oreo, but do you know about all the other flavors? From watermelon to mint, there are a variety out there to try. Despite Oreo’s success, some of these flavors are downright terrible, while others belong on your shopping list. Have you tried all these flavors?

1. Candy Corn

While this flavor might be a fun one as a Halloween treat, you would think twice after tasting it. They taste nothing like a candy corn while having a chemical aftertaste. With both Oreos and candy corn having very distinct and unique flavors, this combination is one you should probably avoid.

2. Buttered Popcorn

Sweet and salty usually go well together, but this Oreo flavor ruins both flavor profiles in one go. You might think it would taste just like eating buttered popcorn and following it up with an Oreo, but that’s far from it. The butter flavor is lacking, and the Oreo is ruined as a result of it.

3. Watermelon

Watermelon Oreos are one of the more disappointing ones when it comes to fruity flavors. The flavor profile does have lots of potential to be a good and refreshing Oreo cookie, but it just runs short of being decent. It does not taste like an Oreo cookie, and it does not taste like a watermelon either, which makes this one a complete swing and a miss.

4. Hot Chicken Wing

The Hot Chicken Wing is just wrong. Everything about it is unpleasant—the smell, the texture, the aftertaste, not to mention just how wrong it feels to dip this into milk. This flavor of Oreos is pushing every boundary in the wrong way and should not have been created by any means.

5. Fruit Punch

The Fruit Punch Oreo is a very weird one for sure. The flavor itself is very muted; however, the part that you actually do taste is very chemical and leaves a weird aftertaste. If you are looking for a treat that will make you happy, you had it, this is definitely not it.

6. Cotton Candy

This flavor of Oreos should be called sugar overload instead of Cotton Candy. While both cotton candy and Oreos are great by themselves, that does not necessarily mean that they would be a good mix. If you like a very artificial flavor and an extremely strong aftertaste, this might be the flavor for you.

7. Caramel Coconut

This sounds like it should be one of the best Oreo flavors, but sadly, it disappoints on all accounts. The coconut is extremely overpowering to the point that it doesn’t even feel like you’re eating an Oreo cookie anymore, while the caramel leaves a very bitter aftertaste. Even worse, it lingers for a very long time after eating just one cookie.

8. Blackout Cake

While chocolate is one of the most popular flavors of sweets, this one would be an exception. While it does smell incredible and looks mouthwatering, that’s where the good parts about this cookie end. The flavor is way too aggressive and feels like eating extremely sweet chocolate frosting between two Oreos.

9. Toffee Crunch

The name and the flavor simply do not add up with this one. There is little to no resemblance to toffee in this Oreo, and worse yet, the smell is extremely off-putting. The only thing that might save this cookie is lots and lots of milk, and even that’s a stretch.

10. Birthday Cake

It seems like the Birthday Cake Oreo flavor should be one of the better ones, but sadly, that’s not the case. The flavor is almost identical to the original Oreo, with the only difference being that the Birthday Cake one is way sweeter. If you’re looking for an Oreo but sweeter, this might do the trick.

Now that we talked about 10 terrible Oreo flavors, here are 10 everyone loves.

1. Red Velvet

The Red Velvet Oreo is one of the simpler innovations that just makes sense. While the cookie itself is almost identical to an original Oreo, the real star here is the cream cheese-flavored filling. It’s a welcome change from the original Oreo filling, and it also smells and looks very appetizing.

2. Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

It might seem like this flavor would be too much, but that’s the furthest thing from the truth. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie Oreo is an incredibly delicious and accurate flavor of exactly what it is trying to be. It’s peanut butter and chocolate perfection condensed into an Oreo cookie.

3. Lemon

While the golden Oreo cookies are not everybody’s go-to, this flavor might change that. Even though it’s quite far from the original Oreo, that might be the exact reason this one is so good and unique. The lemon flavor is on point, very refreshing, and even pairs extremely well with milk.

4. Dark Chocolate

If you like dark chocolate, you are absolutely going to fall in love with this flavor. The Dark Chocolate Oreo delivers with a very rich dark chocolate flavor and a beautiful crunch, making every bite feel luxurious. If that wasn’t enough, it is one of the best things in the world when dipped into milk.

5. Golden

The Golden Oreo is the yin to the original’s yang. While it is essentially a vanilla sandwich cookie at its core, it is a nice and welcome change from the original. The bold chocolate flavor is replaced with a nice and light vanilla, making it incredibly refreshing and pleasant to enjoy.

6. Peanut Butter

The Peanut Butter Oreo flavor is a no-brainer when thinking about flavor profiles. Chocolate and peanut butter have always gone well together, and this cookie is no exception. It is simply a perfect blend of mouthfeel, flavor, smell, and aftertaste, all in one cookie.

7. Mint

The Mint Oreo is exactly what it sounds like: chocolate and mint perfection. For all the mint chocolate lovers, this is a match made in heaven and your new favorite treat. The cookie is nice and crunchy, while the mint cream filling is just the perfect amount of sweet and refreshing, making this one of the best cookie-eating experiences.

8. Chocolate

With so many double, triple, and quadruple chocolate flavors, you might think that this one is going to be the same, but it’s not. The Chocolate Oreo is quite similar to the original, but with a very subtle chocolate flavor in the filling. It might seem like a small change, but it’s a very delicious and yummy one that earns this Oreo one of the top spots.

9. Chocolate Hazelnut

If you love Nutella, you are absolutely going to adore this flavor. The cream tastes almost exactly like Nutella, while the cookie is a very welcome and crunchy addition to the texture and experience of eating this flavor of Oreo. Some have even compared it to an experience of eating a Ferrero Rocher, but better.

10. Original

While crazy flavors are great and definitely exciting to try, nothing beats the original. The Original Oreo is the reason all other Oreos exist, and that’s simply because it’s addictingly good. From the iconic filling, the sweet combination of cookies and cream, the Oreo really is milk’s favorite cookie.
