20 Foods Men Only Eat When Their Girlfriend Orders Them
Suddenly, That Looks Pretty Good
Some guys will stare at a menu, order the biggest burger available, and then spend the next 20 minutes stealing bites from their girlfriend's plate. There are certain foods they might never think to order for themselves, but the second one lands across the table, they're suddenly very interested. From colorful brunch dishes to salads they insisted they didn't want, here are 20 foods he would never order but always steal from her plate.
1. Avocado Toast
A guy might scroll right past avocado toast on the menu because he's already decided it isn't going to fill him up. Then his girlfriend orders it with a poached egg, chili flakes, and a side of crispy potatoes. Five minutes later, he's asking if she's going to finish that second piece.
2. Açaí Bowls
An açaí bowl can seem suspiciously close to dessert pretending to be breakfast, which may be enough to keep some men from ordering one. Once it arrives, though, covered in granola, bananas, berries, and peanut butter, opinions change quickly, and suddenly, one spoonful becomes several.
3. Caprese Salad
Tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil don't always sound exciting when there are burgers and pasta on the same menu. Still, a good caprese salad has a way of getting more attention once it's actually sitting on the table. That "Can I try one?" request usually means at least one whole slice is disappearing.
4. Burrata
Ordering an entire ball of creamy cheese as an appetizer may not be a man's first instinct. But when burrata shows up surrounded by toasted bread, olive oil, tomatoes, or prosciutto, it's hard to ignore. Before long, he's helping himself like ordering it was his idea.
5. Truffle Fries
For women, truffle fries sound like a more sophisticated version of something too basic, but many men see them as essentially the same thing, costing several dollars more. Then someone at the table gets them, and that unmistakable smell arrives before the plate does. The man who claimed ordinary fries were "basically the same" is usually reaching across the table shortly afterward.
6. French Onion Soup
Soup can be a tough sell when you're hungry enough for a full entrée. French onion soup becomes a different story once that bubbling layer of cheese and toasted bread arrives. One look at it can make a guy question why he ordered a boring side salad instead.
7. Bruschetta
A plate of chopped tomatoes on toast doesn't always sound like the most exciting restaurant appetizer. That changes once the garlic, basil, olive oil, and crispy bread are sitting within grabbing distance. It's especially dangerous when the girlfriend ordered it for herself.

8. Goat Cheese Salad
Mention goat cheese salad before arriving at the restaurant, and some men will immediately start looking for the meat section. Put one in front of them with candied pecans, dried cranberries, and a good vinaigrette, and the reaction can be very different. Suddenly, salad is worth getting excited about.

9. Eggs Benedict
Eggs Benedict requires a certain amount of commitment when pancakes, bacon, and breakfast sandwiches are also available. Plenty of guys won't bother ordering it themselves, but hollandaise sauce has a habit of attracting wandering forks. By the end of brunch, he's eaten enough of hers to qualify as sharing.
10. Sweet Potato Fries
For some men, choosing sweet potato fries instead of regular fries feels unnecessarily risky. That's why they'll confidently order the standard version while their girlfriend upgrades hers. Of course, once they taste the salty-sweet combination, the regular fries suddenly seem much less appealing.

11. Spinach & Artichoke Dip
Nobody necessarily goes to a restaurant planning to eat a bowl of melted cheese disguised by vegetables. Yet when spinach and artichoke dip arrives hot with a pile of tortilla chips or bread, restraint becomes difficult. The guy who said he didn't want an appetizer might wind up eating more of it than anyone.
12. Lobster Mac & Cheese
Regular mac and cheese can seem too simple to order at a restaurant, while lobster mac and cheese may sound a little over-the-top. Somehow, those concerns vanish when somebody else's skillet arrives bubbling and covered in breadcrumbs. One "tiny taste" can quickly turn into several forkfuls.

13. Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Lettuce wraps can look like the option you order when you're deliberately trying to behave yourself. They're much more convincing after the savory chicken filling, crunchy vegetables, and dipping sauce actually arrive. Even the person who ordered wings may start building a lettuce wrap of his own.
14. Pesto Pasta
Some men head straight toward red sauce, meat sauce, or anything involving a large amount of cheese when ordering pasta. Pesto doesn't always get the same attention until a bright green bowl appears across the table smelling like basil and garlic. That's often when the requests to "just try a bite" begin.
15. Edamame
Few guys are likely to sit down at a restaurant and get excited about ordering a bowl of steamed soybeans. Yet edamame has the perfect quality for mindless snacking while you're waiting for the rest of the meal. Once the bowl is there, everybody suddenly seems to have ordered it.
16. Margherita Pizza
When a menu is loaded with pepperoni, sausage, bacon, and other toppings, plain tomatoes, cheese used sparingly, and basil can sound almost too simple. Then a proper Margherita pizza arrives with fresh mozzarella, charred crust, and really good tomato sauce. It's often enough to convince the meat lover at the table that simple pizza deserves to be there, too.

17. Tiramisu
Some guys insist they aren't dessert people right up until somebody else orders dessert. Tiramisu is particularly good at exposing this because coffee, mascarpone, and cocoa don't feel overwhelmingly sweet. The person who declined his own dessert is often the first one asking for a bite.
18. Crème Brûlée
Crème brûlée sounds like something you order when you're making a deliberate effort to have dessert. That's probably why plenty of men skip it and claim they're full. Once that caramelized sugar top gets cracked with a spoon, however, being "too full" can become surprisingly flexible.
19. Charcuterie
A board covered in tiny amounts of cheese, cured meat, fruit, crackers, and spreads doesn't necessarily scream dinner to everyone. Still, it's incredibly easy to start picking at one once it's placed in the middle of the table. The guy who wondered why anyone would pay for "snacks on a board" may end up locating the best cheese before anyone else.
20. Matcha Anything
Matcha lattes, matcha cheesecake, and matcha ice cream can all look a little too green for someone who hasn't tried them before. That often means his girlfriend is the one who takes the chance and orders it. Once he gets a taste of the earthy, slightly sweet flavor, the skepticism tends to disappear along with half her order.
