20 Single Guy Dinners Any Man Can Handle

20 Single Guy Dinners Any Man Can Handle

Dinner Doesn’t Need to Be a Production

Cooking for one can feel annoying when every recipe online seems built for a family of six and a sink full of dishes. It’s even worse if you don’t really have the cooking skills to pull off the more elaborate stuff. Well, the good news is that a solid single-guy dinner doesn’t need fancy equipment or even fresh herbs. You just need meals that use normal groceries, and we’re here to help you build 20 recipes with exactly that.

1. Rotisserie Chicken Tacos

A grocery store rotisserie chicken does most of the work here, but there’s no shame in that. Shred some chicken, warm a few tortillas, and add salsa, lettuce, or whatever hot sauce lives in your fridge. You’ll get a real meal in about ten minutes, and the leftover chicken can even become tomorrow’s sandwich or late-night snack.

2. Sheet Pan Sausage and Potatoes

People don’t give enough credit to sheet pan meals! The best part about them is that dinner is hard to mess up once everything is on the pan. Cut smoked sausage and potatoes into chunks, toss them with oil, garlic powder, paprika, and pepper, then roast until the potatoes are browned. You can also add frozen broccoli during the last 15 minutes.

3. One-Pot Chili

Who doesn’t love chili, even in the summertime? Chili is perfect when you want something filling but don’t want to babysit a pan all night. Brown ground beef or turkey, stir in canned beans, crushed tomatoes, chili powder, and a little salt, then let it simmer. A bowl with shredded cheese and tortilla chips is also a great choice, and the leftovers taste even better the next day.

4. Breakfast For Dinner

Hey, there’s no rule saying eggs have to stay in the morning! All you need to do is scramble two or three eggs, toast some bread, and add bacon or a handful of spinach if you have it. It’s cheap, quick, and a lot better than pretending a bag of chips counts as dinner.

5. Garlic Butter Shrimp Pasta

Make no mistake: frozen shrimp makes you look like a better cook than you are. It’s also a low-cal option you can make anytime. Boil spaghetti, cook the shrimp in butter with garlic and red pepper flakes, then toss everything together with a splash of pasta water. It’s restaurant-adjacent without asking you to chop twelve things.

6. Loaded Baked Potato

A baked potato is basically a blank canvas, and it’s way more filling than it gets credit for. You can bake or even microwave a large potato, split it open, then add whatever you have on hand. We prefer things like chili, broccoli, sour cream, shredded cheese, bacon bits, or leftover chicken.

7. Chicken Quesadilla

A quesadilla is one of the easiest ways to turn random fridge ingredients into something respectable. It doesn’t require much effort, either; simply put shredded chicken, cheese, and a spoonful of salsa between two tortillas, then cook it in a skillet until both sides are crisp. Add sour cream, and dinner suddenly appears before your eyes.

8. Tuna Melt

Canned tuna doesn’t have to be sad when you treat it like actual food. Mix it with mayo, mustard, and black pepper, pile it onto bread, and toast it in a skillet until the bread’s golden. It’s quick, and it’s also loaded with protein!

9. Burger Bowl

When you don’t feel like dealing with buns, a burger bowl also gets the job done. Cook ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and a little Worcestershire sauce, then serve it over lettuce or roasted potatoes. Much like a regular burger, you can also top it with pickles, cheese, onions, ketchup, or mustard.

10. Frozen Dumplings With Rice

Frozen dumplings are a strong move because they don’t require any real cooking. Pan-fry or steam them according to the package, make a bowl of rice, and mix soy sauce with a little chili crisp. You can even throw cucumber slices on the side if you want fresh greens.

11. Steak and Bagged Salad

Who said you can’t have red meat in a salad? Season a small steak with salt and pepper, sear it in a hot pan, and let it rest while you open a chopped salad kit. It’s a classic dinner that fills your belly on a dime, even though the hardest part is not poking the steak every ten seconds.

12. Pesto Tortellini

Don’t underestimate the power of refrigerated tortellini. It’s a practical shortcut you only need to boil for a few minutes, drain, and stir with jarred pesto. Best of all, you can also add grilled chicken strips or Parmesan if you want to make it feel less like a dorm-room dish.

13. BBQ Chicken Flatbread

For this one, all you have to do is spread barbecue sauce on a store-bought flatbread, add shredded chicken, mozzarella, and a little cheddar, then bake until the cheese melts. If it sounds too good to be true, that’s because it practically is! It’s fast enough for a weeknight and still gives you that takeout-style satisfaction.

14. Fried Rice With Leftovers

Fried rice is where leftover rice finally becomes useful! Cook frozen peas and carrots in a skillet, add rice, soy sauce, and leftover chicken or pork. Just be sure to keep the heat high and stir often; you’ll end up with a full dinner that tastes better than the effort suggests.

15. Meatball Subs

Regardless of the season, frozen meatballs are a gift to anyone. All you need to do is heat them in jarred marinara, tuck them into a hoagie roll, add mozzarella, and broil until the cheese melts. A word of caution: it’s messy, so grab a napkin beforehand!

16. Chicken Caesar Wrap

A wrap works when you want something cold and quick, so toss chopped romaine with Caesar dressing, Parmesan, and cooked chicken. From there, roll it in a large tortilla with croutons tucked inside for crunch. It’s especially useful on nights when turning on the oven sounds like way too big of a commitment.

17. Beef and Broccoli

Beef and broccoli are the perfect pair; we don’t care what anyone says! Cook the beef in a hot skillet, add broccoli, then stir in a simple sauce made from soy sauce, garlic, brown sugar, and a splash of water. You can easily serve it over rice, giving you a takeout-style dinner without waiting for a driver.

18. Jarred Sauce Chicken Parmesan

Chicken Parmesan sounds harder than it needs to be, but you can skip all the grunt work with frozen breaded chicken cutlets. Bake them, spoon marinara over them, add mozzarella, and return them to the oven until everything’s hot and melted. From there, you can either put it beside spaghetti or inside a roll.

19. Turkey Sandwich With Soup

Some nights call for a handheld dinner, and that’s where this classic duo comes in. A turkey sandwich with cheese, lettuce, tomato, mustard, and mayo pairs beautifully with a can of tomato or even loaded potato soup. The combo’s simple, but it’s better than eating cold slices of deli meat over the sink.

20. Lazy Nachos

Don’t let anyone tell you that nachos aren’t a valid dinner. All you need to do is spread tortilla chips on a sheet pan, add shredded cheese, black beans, cooked ground beef, and corn, then bake until the cheese melts. Finish with salsa or sour cream, and you’ve got a low-effort meal that still feels like a win.
